Description
The ninth annual North Texas Jazz Festival presented by the Town of Addison and the University of North Texas promises great jazz entertainment including fantastic concerts, rare jazz films, jazz seminars and master classes with jazz greats. The three-day invitational features almost 50 outstanding big bands, combos, and vocal jazz groups representing universities, community colleges, high schools and middle schools from across the United States and Canada.
The event kicks off with a bang Thursday night with an Intimate Evening with two-time GRAMMY nominated Tierney Sutton Band at Greenhill School. After the concert, concert-goers are invited to an informal reception with the band.
Friday’s concert includes a special performance from the One O’Clock Lab Band, the North Texas Jazz Singers and the North Texas Jazz Faculty Combo. Students from the nearly 50 bands performing over the three-day festival will have the opportunity to be selected as “outstanding” by the events adjudicators. Those selected will appear on stage in concert Saturday night along side the Tierney Sutton Band for the event finale.
