Porn for Puritans
August 8, 2009
Porn for Puritans is a comedy about relationships, sex, dating, sex, love, and sex (but not necessarily in that order). The show, written by locals Leigh Tomlinson and Tim Wardell, was last seen at The MAC in 2004 where it enjoyed a very successful six-week run that included twenty-seven sold-out performances. The 2009 version is directed by John S. Davies and includes thirteen pages of new material. Meagan Norris has joined co-writer and original cast member Tim Wardell in this two-person comedy that explores the craziness of male/female relationships.
"The show is a comedic assault on the contradictions, inconsistencies, and foibles of contemporary romance," says Wardell. "It's the observations of a man and woman - their absurd, irreverent insights on everything from dating to mating and all the awkward steps in between." He adds, "Porn for Puritans is not your usual theatre experience. It's a unique mix of sketch comedy, monologues, dialogues, songs, and stand-up. The material comes from personal experiences that anybody that has ever been in a relationship can relate to."
