The Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth, Germán Gutiérrez, music director, performs its Holiday Concert, Sunday, December 13, 2009, 6:00 p.m. at Ed Landreth Auditorium. The concert features all four orchestras in the YOGFW program: the Youth Orchestra, Junior Youth Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Junior String Orchestra. Tickets, priced $5 for students and $10 for adults, are available by calling 817.923.3121 or at the door.
Repertoire for the concert includes Christmas Waltz by Tchaikovsky and Christmas Overture performed by the Junior Youth Orchestra and directed by Andrés Franco; God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and A Perpetual Motion Christmas performed by the Junior String Orchestra and directed by Samuel Branch; Danses for Harp and Orchestra by Debussy and Concerto Grosso, Op. 6, No. 8 in g minor by Corelli performed by the String Orchestra and directed by Jesus Castro-Balbi. The concert will conclude with the Youth Orchestra performing Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1 and Christmas, A Medley of Well-known Carols with audience sing-a-long.
