Hamlet / Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
February 7
Utilizing both stages at the Dallas Hub Theater, SATER will present Shakespeare’s masterpiece Hamlet in their main space and Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead in their studio space. Hamlet, argued as one of the greatest plays in English literature is the tragedy of a Danish Prince that embarks on an introspective journey to avenge his father’s murder. The story of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead looks at the events of Hamlet from the alternative perspective of Hamlet’s two friends that are summoned by the King to provide insight into the prince’s behavior and quickly find themselves entangled in the complex plot.
A single cast pulls double duty appearing on one stage and what would be an exit becomes an entrance into the other stage and vice versa. Both plays feature fresh perspectives and can certainly stand on their own, but for the full effect the audiences come one night and watch one show and come back on another night in the run to see the other show. It does not matter which show they see first, although seating is limited so reservations are strongly encouraged.

Mike Orren, says:
Looking forward to a review -- This may well be the cleverest staging concept I've ever seen.
