Luis Yanez Grand Entrance
February 20
Dallas' Luis Yanez, one of the most decorated American amateur boxers of the past decade, is set to make his professional debut on Friday, February 20th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
The 20 year old Yanez, Dallas' only Olympic boxer ever, will headline the six-bout fight card, starting at 7:30 p.m. Yanez is slated for a six-round Flyweight fight. His opponent in the main event bout is to be announced, as is the remainder of the card.
The event is being produced by Barry Mendelson and his Mendelson Entertainment Group, LLC, in association with Media 13, Dallas businessman Ray Quintanilla and Brown Boy Media. The Licensed promoter for the event is The Harrison Group, promoters of Texas Slugfest.
The Yanez bout is scheduled to be televised live, on Fox Sports Net Southwest. Details of the broadcast are to be announced, as well. Yanez will have his hands full in living up to his nickname, "The Latin Legend," as given to him by members of the Cuban boxing team after Yanez defeated their heralded teammate (Yampier Hernandez) for the Gold Medal at the 2007 Pan American Games.
