Lost Wax Casting Workshop with Rebecca Swann
July 12
, 2009
Through the process of casting, students will be able to produce one-of-a kind jewelry pieces and small sculptures. Once a model is sculpted in wax, it is then put into a metal flask and a fine plaster (investment) is poured around it. After drying, the flask is put into a kiln and the wax is burned out leaving a hollow form in the investment. Silver or bronze is then melted and poured into the form reproducing the orginal wax in metal. Please bring a lunch.
