Opening Reception - Pieces of Me: Laura Di Nello
July 25
, 2009
Laura Di Nello's canvas mosaic technique was the result of a painting she had destroyed by cutting one of her original painted canvases in an extremely emotional time in her life. In an attempt to put the "pieces" of her life back together, Di Nello resurrected her and a new artistry. The canvas pieces were applied together to form a new painting. This trademark mosaic technique adds texture and visual interest to her work and affects color and subject in an unprecedented and intriguing maner. Her first show was in a Savannah restaurant where her painting sold out. Murals and commissioned work, as well as her inspired works, continue to be well sought after.
Di Nello began painting at the age of 30. A mother of four, Laura's subjects tend to be strong vibrant females, reflecting the challenges and conflicts that have occurred in her past and her current every day life. Her work can be seen in many public collections such as the Westin Grand Bohemian in Orlando, Florida.
