The Compatibility of Islamic Law with Feminism

Professor Qudsia Mirza will present a lecture titled, "The Compatibility of Islamic Law and Feminism," which will be followed by a question-and-answer session. A law professor from the University of East London, Mirza's teaching and research includes the areas of Islamic Law, International Human Rights Law, and Feminist Legal Theory. Her current research focuses primarily on feminist perspectives of Islamic legal theory. She has published extensively on this topic. Mirza recently edited a book entitled Islamic Feminism and the Law, which is forthcoming from Routledge-Cavendish. She currently serves as a Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati.
