2009 AFI Dallas Film Festival - Alien Trespass
March 28
(USA, 2009, 90 mins)
35mm
Directed By: R.W Goodwin
Alien Trespass has all the frightened townspeople, silver-suited aliens and mysterious disappearances you need in a good saucer flick.
When a space ship crashes near the town of Mojave, Calif., a criminal space creature—The Ghota—is released upon the Earth, and is chased by the Intergalactic Marshall, Urp, who was transporting it. As The Ghota ravages the town, dissolving its residents, Urp tries to persuade a local waitress, Tammy, to help him capture the fugitive before it multiplies. Tammy doesn’t quite believe Urp’s tale until two teens who’ve seen The Ghota for themselves convince her it’s true. There’s a showdown at the local movie theater, but how can mere humans defeat the alien monster?
Director R.W. Goodwin pulls threads from Saturday matinee alien flicks and weaves them into a modern tale that is as campy as it is creepy.
