On Monday, March 29th 2009, the UT Arlington Black Student Association in collaboration with the African Student Organization will be hosting their First Annual HIV/AIDS Prevention and Awareness Banquet. Invited to this banquet are students, faculty, and community leaders from the campus of UT Arlington and the Arlington/DFW community. This banquet will showcase cultural arts and serve to support HIV/AIDS in the Dallas community.
AIDS Arms Inc., is a local charity dedicated to providing healthcare and resources for those infected with HIV/AIDS. This foundation is also focused on providing prevention and risk reduction activities in local DFW communities.
As a part of the kick off to Black History Month hosted by Multicultural Affairs at UT Arlington, our dinner banquet is entitled “Back to Harlem” in honor of the Harlem Renaissance and important achievements during this time period. Through an exhibition of entertainment such as spoken word, theater, and song; it emphasizes black history in cultural expression and serves to speak out about a rising issue in both African and African American communities.
