Based on actual events. In Louisiana in the 1980s, Joseph DeRocher is a convicted murderer awaiting execution on death row. DeRocher begins a correspondence with Sister Helen. After meeting with him, and despite misgivings of her own, Sister Helen takes on a personal mission to convince DeRocher to find peace and salvation through confession.
