Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra - West Side Story: Symphonic Dances
May 15
, 2009
Paganini's First Violin Concerto, a dazzling display in technical prowess, features Augustin Hadelich, who last performed with the FWSO at Carnegie Hall. Mejia's Pequena Suite features two popular Chilean dances, Bambuco and Cumbia. Bernstein's selection of Symphonic Dances from the Broadway hit West Side Story beautifully depict this modern day Romeo and Juliet. Turina's lively Danzas fantasticas draws deeply from the musical traditions of Spain.
