Kristy Kruger / Robert Gomez / Salim Nourallah / The Beaten Sea
November 2
Please join us this year for Dallas' 3rd annual Dia de los Muertos Music Festival. This festival was founded by Dallas musician Kristy Kruger in remembrance of her brother, Lt. Col. Eric Kruger who was killed on Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) in the Iraq war, November 2, 2006. Eric was a Dallas native and a graduate of North Garland High School and SMU. He gave 18 years of his life in service to the US military and he is deeply loved and missed by his family and friends.
If you are not familiar with the holiday, "Day of the Dead" is a Mexican holiday - a joyous one, that celebrates the lives of those who have passed on. Traditionally this holiday is celebrated by bringing offerings for our departed loved ones. Since Kristy's brother was a huge fan of live music, she decided to honor his memory with a musical concert - her offering to him, every year on his date of death. There will be an altar at the show - so feel free to bring offerings, photos, etc. of anyone you would like to be remembered.
The line-up this year is packed with some of Dallas' finest musicians, including Kristy, SALIM NOURALLAH, THE BEATEN SEA and ROBERT GOMEZ. There is no cover, but a suggested $10 donation, or what you can, to support the musicians. There will also be a silent art auction - 100% of those sales will benefit the Fisher House, a non-profit which cares for our wounded Veterans. Please join us for this very special evening of remembrance and art.
