The Shakespearean Playhouses of Tudor London
November 5
, 2009
Join Dr. Julian Bowsher, Senior Archaeologist at the Museum of London, for a survey of the recent projects that have excavated the sites of London's famous 16th-century playhouses: the Theatre (known as ‘Shakespeare’s fist theater’), the Rose, the Globe, and the Hope. These excavations reveal not only how these theatres work, but also tell us about life inside the playhouses for the management, actors, and audience, as well as society in Shakespeare’s theatrical London. After the lecture, visit The Stage for selected readings from Shakespeare's greatest plays, performed by Regan Adair and Jenifer Crenshaw.
$15 for the public, discounts available for DMA members, students, and seniors. To purchase tickets, call 214-922-1826 or e-mail publicprograms@DallasMuseumofArt.org.
