Fort Worth ISD Honors Veterans

On Thursday, November 5, 2009 the students, faculty and staff at W.J. Turner Elementary School will honor those who have served America. Veterans have been invited to speak to visit the school’s classrooms and speak to the students from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The veterans will then join the students for lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
On Friday, November 6, 2009 the students of W.J. Turner Elementary School will participate in a Veteran’s Day parade through their neighborhood.
“We want to honor all who have served our great country and preserved our freedom,” said Turner Principal Elida Silva. “We are asking our community to decorate their yards in red, white and blue.”
The event will be made complete with a special visit from members of the Tuskegee Airmen. All veterans and current service members from the community are invited to participate in the parade. The parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. and move down Robinson St. to Azle Av. to Kearney to NW 25th St. and back to Robinson.
