Haiku as Artistic Expression

Traditional haiku poetry consists of a short, three-line poem of seventeen syllables that was first developed by the Japanese. Haiku captures the essence of a moment like a snapshot which the reader interprets from his or her point of view. This workshop series will enable participants to create their own haiku using the museum collections and their own experiences as inspiration. Certification for professional development hours provided.

Poet and photographer Michael Moore has introduced traditional and free verse haiku to thousands of participants, students and teachers. His Japanese nature photography and videos enhance the haiku writing process and make his workshops a multi-dimensional experience.

Reservations required. Free for Friends of the Crow Collection and students. $15 per session for non-members or $25 for the series. Call 214-979-6438 or visit www.crowcollection.org to register for a class. To register for the series, please call 214-979-6438.
