Rhett Miller / Salim Nourallah / Shibboleth
November 14
, 2009
Rhett Miller, lead singer of the Old 97s, joins the CF Concert Series for the third year in a row.
For the past two years on a certain day in November, a group of friends and music fans have come together to support a cause very near to their hearts. On November 14th they join together again at Dallas’ historic Granada Theater to present the CF Concert Series. This year, as it has for the past two, the CF Concert Series features Rhett Miller, a Texas native and lead singer of The Old 97’s. Miller will mix old favorites with hits from his recently released solo album appropriately titled, Rhett Miller. Rhett shares the mission of the CF Concert Series and does so by gaining the event national exposure. Joining Rhett as emcee is Gordon Keith of Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket, The O’s, recently named The Observer’s Best New Act, and Shibboleth, both local Dallas bands.
The CF Concert Series aims to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis with an emphasis on adult research. It started as a small effort, organized by a few local music fans who have personal stock in helping to find a cure for this life-threatening disease. Last year, the concert raised $30,000 toward CF research. This November, they hope to do even more.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening, genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. The goal of this event is to help raise not only awareness of the disease but funds allocated for the great strides being made towards CF research.
