In the wake of successive typhoons in the Philippines, The University of Texas at Arlington will celebrate Asian Heritage Month with two events to benefit the victims of September's devastating storms.
The first event will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the Bluebonnet Ballroom at the E.H. Hereford University Center. The Filipino and Vietnamese Student Associations will host the "Night at the Market-Lion," a festival featuring performances, food, and games with the proceeds to benefit typhoon relief efforts.
Asian Heritage Month events conclude Tuesday, Nov. 17, with the "Most Awesome Extreme Challenge" in the Bluebonnet Ballroom. The 6:30 p.m. event is similar to the ABC reality television program, I Survived a Japanese Game Show. It will feature students competing in sumo wrestling and other challenges for team points. There is a $25 registration fee for competitors with the proceeds to benefit typhoon victims.
