Precious: After bringing audiences to tears at the Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto Film Festivals, Lee Daniels’ vibrant, honest, and resoundingly hopeful film arrives in Fort Worth a month before its national release. Set in Harlem in 1987, it is the story of Claireece “Precious” Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), a sixteen-year-old African-American girl pregnant for the second time by her absent father. The film features Lenny Kravitz, Paula Patton, and a barely recognizable Mariah Carey, but it’s the revelatory performance by Mo’Nique that will leave you reeling. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. 109 minutes
