The Misanthrope
October 10
, 2009
In her salon, the coquettish Célimène entertains the world of fashion. Amidst the well-bred and insincere appears Alceste, a man who is madly in love with her, but cannot endure pretense, affectation, and hypocrisy. If only he could steal her away from her entourage and escape to a desert island. With The Misanthrope, critics maintain that Molière achieved his comic masterpiece.
