Clarification: Not so much canceled as "never real." We got the following note just now from Steve Perry's lawyer.

Dear Sir or Madam:
This email is sent to demand that you remove a false advertisement for a nonexistent Steve Perry concert from your website.
This office represents Steve Perry, the well known musician. It recently came to our attention that you are promoting an alleged "Steve Perry" event on October 31, 2009 at Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas. You can view the promotion at http://www.pegasusnews.com/events/200....
In fact, Steve Perry has no present plans to perform at that or any other location. He is not on tour and has no plans to go on tour at the present time.
Over the past several months a number of venues appear to have been misled by someone who falsely claimed to represent Mr. Perry, and have announced and promoted "concerts" that never took place. See, eg, http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/art....
Mr. Perry does not have any control over what these third parties are doing, but does not want any fans to be misled by these inaccurate promotions. Please remove this promotion from your website immediately.
Sincerely, Mark S. Lee Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP

Yeah, his Honolulu link is broken and he doesn't seem to get that this is an editorial listing, not an ad-- but there's some more detail on a fan site here:

Interesting tale. We're looking into how this wound up on the Poor David's calendar, however briefly.

This is Poor David and this listing was never listed on my website with the exception that it might have been listed as tentative for 1-2 days. The scam was quickly uncovered and reported as such to all on our email list. I first reported it as sounding too good to be true, and indeed it was.

Rawlins Gilliland, says:
The confusion is traceable to the leaked rumor that the DPD officer who ticketed persons for not speaking English will be raising money for his defense headlining a Journey cover band 'somewhere near downtown'.
