Designing a Garden
September 26
Join landscape architect and author of Perennial Gardening in Texas, Alan Franz, as he shows you how to turn your garden into a treasured space. The first part of the class will look at garden design history – both formal and informal – and be followed by the basic principles used when designing your own garden. The second part will give you hands-on practice, where you will have the opportunity to design your own gardens. Bring photos, property surveys, site plans, house plans, and measurements of your yard to help jump start the design process. Bring your lunch or pick something up at the dining terrace.
$72 for members, $80 for non-members. Class fees include admission to the garden and parking. After class, participants are invited to stroll through the gardens and see spectacular floral displays featured throughout the year. Class sizes are limited, so advance registration is required. Reservations can be made online or by calling 214-515-6540. E-mail education@dallasarboretum.org with any questions. Check the Arboretum website for a full listing of the fall and winter classes.
