Opening Day Celebration: The Art of Architecture: Foster + Partners

Join us on opening day of the exhibition for a free event featuring artist demonstrations, tours, live performances, and sketching in the Galleries. At 1 pm, enjoy an Architecture Lecture in Nasher Hall with Spencer de Grey, Head of Design at Foster + Partners, for a one-hour discussion on the great breadth of projects the firm has undertaken over the past four decades.
Community Art Project: 11 am – 2 pm
Young visitors will work together to build a large, collaborative architectural structure.
Artist Demonstrations: 11 am – 4 pm
Professional local artists will create artworks on-site and discuss their creative strategies.
Family Tour: 11:30 am
Families are invited to explore the exhibition, Galleries, and Garden though interactive tours with a museum docent.
Architecture Lecture: 1 pm
Learn about the award-winning work of Foster + Partners with Spencer de Grey, Head of Design and principal architect of the Winspear Opera House. This one-hour discussion will touch on the great breadth of projects the firm has undertaken over the past four decades. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Adult Tour: 2:30 pm
Docents will take visitors on guided tours of the exhibition and share insight into some of Foster’s greatest achievements.
Live Performance: 3 pm
The Dallas Opera will perform live in Nasher Hall.
Sketching: 2 - 5 pm
Visitors will create drawings of architectural works with guidance from an artist.
Construction Challenge: 11 am – 5 pm
Families will team up to complete architectural projects in the Center’s architectural playground using a variety of building blocks.
