The Art of the Arranger

Kick off the second concert of the Fall Sammons Jazz Season with some of the finest Dallas Jazz composers/arrangers. The first set will present The Curt Bradshaw Ensemble led by jazz composer and arranger Curt Bradshaw. He will be joined by Jack Evans on trumpet, Jeff Robbins on saxophone, Greg Waits on trombone, Mike Morrison on baritone saxophone, Kent Ellingson on piano, Lou Harlas on bass, and Andrew Griffith on drums. In the second set Dave Zoller will head up his new ensemble Rio featuring singer Nina Katrina. They will be joined by Jeff Robbins on saxophone and flute, Terry Hankins on Guitar, Brian Warthen on bass, and Dennis Durick on drums. For tickets or information call 214/520-7789.

The evening features the best live jazz entertainment as well as free valet parking, complimentary coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks, and a light meal. Seating is general admission. Regular ticket price is $40; Member price is $35. All performances are in Meadows Hall at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. All performances are on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; doors open at 7:00 p.m. Dress is casual and all major credit cards are accepted.

[note: Pete Gallio will be replaced by Jeff Robbins, and Dave Cavenaugh will be replaced by Kent Ellingson in Curt Bradshaw's octet.]
