SceneShop: A Fifth of Christmas
December 8, 2012
Cast aside the candy canes and put your snark on because it's time again for SceneShop's A Fifth of Christmas. Shopping Malls. An overload of snacks in the workplace. Fruitcake. Obligatory parties. Family gatherings you can’t avoid. Unwanted gifts. TV programs so sugary sweet they make your teeth hurt. SceneShop can’t solve all these problems, but we can offer one night’s blessed relief with the 2012 edition of our annual A Fifth of Christmas.
Mark your calendars now for Saturday, December 8th at 8 pm, in the funky ambiance of Arts Fifth Avenue. If you need an irreverent break from Santa, candy canes and far too much “holiday cheer,” this is the ticket.
Here’s what “A Fifth of Christmas” 2012 has to offer: Raucous live music from Michael “Aitch” Price and His Noel Laureates, featuring the red-hot guitar of local favorite Sumter Bruton. (This evening will also mark the release of the Laureates’ first CD, cleverly titled Claus and Effect n sale at the AFA box office.) Original theatre works scripted by Natalie Gaupp and Steven Alan McGaw. The acting ensemble for this show includes Todd Camp, Alan Cooke, Michael Carver-Simmons, Peggy Bott Kirby, Steven McGaw, Ben Phillips, Lori Sundeen-Soderbergh and Kyle Trentham. Comedian Christopher Darden. Lively choral music from the Fifth Avenue Hi-Notes. And don’t forget the availability of beer and wine at the Arts Fifth Avenue concessions stand.
