Jekyll and Hyde

American Idol star Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox inject new life into this classic tale of good and evil. This dark love story from Tony and Grammy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn returns in a new pre-Broadway production.

Carolyn , anonymous:

This was the worst show I have ever had the "privilege" of seeing. I am an active theatre-goer and never before in my life have I seen such a cringe-inducing performance than that of Deborah Cox as Lucy. Also, the graphics that were projected onto Dr. Jekyll's parlor during the confrontation looked like they were designed by the same man who designs Nickelback's album covers. Overall, I found the show to be uninspired, with a lackluster performance by Jason Wooten, understudying for the role of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. The shining light in the show was Teal Wicks as Emma, whose raw emotion and beautiful voice left the "actress" Cox in the dust. I would not recommend this show to ANYONE, unless the person in question is looking for a good laugh, especially in the song "Murder" that started off Act Two with its clashing "harmonies" and ridiculously incomprehensible excuses for death scenes, making me wish I had left during Intermission. The chorus, on the other hand, was seemingly sprinkled with wonderful voices and characters that I desperately longed for more of. Also, do not let me forget Laird Mackintosh as John, whose refined skill in this field was demonstrated perfectly, and along with Wicks', was highlighted by the disasterous directing and sickening lead actors. Save yourself and skip this show.
