First Tuesday: Howdy, Texas!

General admission to the Museum is free all day on the first Tuesday of every month. Enjoy thematic art-making activities, story times, performances, and gallery activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

sun prints - 11:00 a.m. – Noon, Fleischner Courtyard. Make a work of art using the power of the sun! Arrange nature objects on photo-sensitive paper to create a unique design. Limit one per child. In case of inclement weather, this activity will be canceled.

art-making activity - 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., C3 Art Studio or C3 Tech Lab. Drop in and add your signature style to a bandana to wear home.

meet Arturo - 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., C3 Center Space. Say hello to Arturo, the Museum’s family mascot and get a temporary tattoo (11:00 am–1:00 p.m.)

storyART - 11:30 a.m. – noon, Horchow Auditorium. Join award-winning storyteller Ann Marie Newman for stories and songs inspired by works in the museum’s collection.

family tours of the museum - 11:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m., or 2:45 p.m., Meet at the Center for Creative Connections entrance. Join museum education staff for thirty minute interactive tours of some of our favorite things at the museum.

story time with the Dallas Public Library - 1:00 – 1:30 p.m., C3 Theater. Listen to enchanting stories told by our librarian friends.

acting workshops with Dallas Theater Center - 1:00 – 1:45 and 2:00 – 2:45 p.m., Level 1, George Grosz exhibition. Let the Texas landscape inspire you to become a character with tips from our friends at the Dallas Theater Center as they lead acting workshops for ages 8 and up.

western roundup with Dorayne Breedlove - 1:30 – 2:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium. Come along on a western adventure with imaginative play, stories and songs to celebrate the Texas wild west.

Texas Treasures scavenger hunt - 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Pick up your scavenger hunt at the Center for Creative Connections entrance. Follow the clues to explore the museum’s galleries and learn fun facts about the art. Bring your completed sheet back to the Center for Creative Connections and receive a prize!

sketching in the galleries for kids - 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., American Art galleries, Level 4 landing. Spend time sketching from original works of art with artist Solange Mariel. All supplies provided.

Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® - 3:00 – 3:45 p.m., Crow Collection of Asian Art. Meet at the entrance of C3 to follow a DMA staff person to the Crow. Families can join certified Yogiños instructors for fun yoga classes weaving stories from works of art, music, and the 8 limbs of yoga. Yogiños is limited to the first 30 children.

family film - 3:30 – 4:00 p.m., C3 Theater. Watch The Piggy in the Puddle and learn how artists bring the story to life through clay animation. (30 minutes, for all ages)
