White Rock Lake Festival: Trucks and Tunes (CANCELED)
November 10, 2012
UPDATE: The 10th Annual White Rock Lake Festival Presents: Trucks & Tunes on November 10 & 11 has been cancelled due to the weather. "I'm sorry to say but the Festival this weekend is cancelled due to rain on Sunday and the wind today which was blowing over porta pottys and the forecast says the wind will be twice as strong tomorrow. The stage company said 25 plus mile an hour wind would take the stage down the way it is right beside a lake. Setting up today and the wind was really howling...when it comes across that entire lake from the south it almost knocks a guitar out of your arms. So sad. We are going to look at a reschedule next year", said Mike Schoder.
The White Rock Lake Foundation celebrates the 100-year-old body of water – and raises funds for beautification projects – with two days of Trucks and Tunes. Those are food trucks, of course, and local bands will provide the tunes. The lineup, which was booked by Mike Schoder of the Granada Theater and Sundown at the Granada, includes Salim and the Travoltas, Somebody’s Darling, The Bird Dogs, The Fox and the Bird, Larry G(ee), Forgotten Space, Goodnight Ned, The Will Callers and J. Charles and The Trainrobbers. The 13th annual gathering will also have canoe rides, booths, and pet adoptions.
Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Boy Scout Hill at White Rock Lake Park, Mockingbird Lane at East Lawther Drive. $5, free for kids under 5.
