McKinney Main Street celebrates the beginning of the holiday season over Thanksgiving weekend with the long-standing annual tradition Dickens of a Christmas...Home for the Holidays. The thirty-second year of this free event begins Friday, Nov. 23 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 25. Historic downtown will transform into a winter wonderland of shopping, entertainment, activities and food.
The official tree-lighting ceremony will be held Friday, Nov. 23 at 6:15 p.m. in Mitchell Park just west of downtown. City officials will light the living Christmas tree, and The Poor Kings will entertain with Christmas favorites.
Dickens of a Christmas is free and open to the public. Throughout the weekend, visitors to Historic Downtown McKinney can enjoy strolling carolers, visits with Santa, live entertainment, carriage rides, children’s activities, and holiday shopping and dining at the more than 100 shops and restaurants downtown.
