ZestFest 2013

Do you love fiery food? Attend this 10th annual expo devoted to all things hot and spicy. There’ll be cooking demos (including appearances by Jon Bonnell, Eddie Deen, Enam Chowdhury and John Franke and others), exhibitors from around the country, the Wingstops Atomic wing-eating contest (Saturday at 1 p.m.), a jalapeño eating contest, lots of food samples and more.

$15 at the door; reduced prices available online; free for children 10 and under.

Old Settlers' Park and Recreation Center

On May 22, 2013, the City of McKinney sponsored an open Pickleball Tournament at the Old Settler's Recreation Center that turned out to be totally unorganized. The courts were not prepared ahead of time and the tournament brackets had to be completed by an outside player instead of already being completed by the sponsor. The wait time between matches was at times over two hours. My group from Denton arrived at the Tournament at 8:30 AM as instructed by the sponsor for registration.
