February 28: International Concert Guitarist Competition, 8 p.m., free. Come watch the top four finalists compete for over $6500 in prize money.
March 1: Youth Competition, AH1 Building, 10 a.m., free. Youth from 11 to 18 years-old compete for over $900 in prize money.
March 1: Juan Carlos Laguna, 4 p.m., free. Internationally renowned classical guitarist Laguna demonstrates his unparalleled skills in a concert sure to delight. He has performed throughout the world as a soloist and with various orchestras like The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and The Berliner Sinphonietta.
March 1: Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, 8 p.m., $25. The Grammy winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet featuring John Dearman, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Matthew Greif concludes the festival. They consistently sell out concerts with programs ranging from Bluegrass to Bach including critically acclaimed transcriptions of classical works and their interpretations of contemporary pieces. Since each guitarist is a talented musician, the quartet is “a formidable ensemble, both in terms of technical bravura and musical personality” (Baltimore Sun).
