Flor Garduno: Mujeres Fantasticas
Start date: Thursday, September 3, 2009
Event is ongoing: Until Saturday, November 21, 2009
Internationally recognized photographer, Flor Garduño, presents a series of works in reverence to the female body. Her photographs, exclusively in black and white, feature women as symbols of fertility and sexuality alike. For this collection, Garduño encouraged the women to choose their own poses as a sculptural representation of their own femininity. ''Each figure glows as if it were fervently embracing a promise, beaming with an overwhelming fullness,'' writes Veronica Volkow in her introduction to the book, Flor Garduño: Inner Light - Still Lifes and Nudes, 2002.
