Nature’s Surroundings

As a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Colleen A. Zeiler began her professional career as a registered nurse, working in Regina, Saskatchewan and Victoria, British Columbia. Upon moving to Fort Worth and while working in the nursing profession, she attended classes at Weatherford College as a non-traditional student. She found her inspiration to study art and art history after enrolling in a required class, Fine Arts Appreciation, at Weatherford College. This class motivated her to study art at Tarleton State University, where she received my BFA in Art in 2008. During Zeiler’s senior year she exhibited Perspectives of Realism, a solo juried exhibition, in the O.A. Grant Building at Tarleton State University. In April 2008, she also presented a solo exhibit, The Artworks of Colleen Zeiler, Tarleton Senior Art Major, in the Tarleton State University’s Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center in Granbury, Texas. Her art work acceptances include the LGAA Fall Festival of Art Juried show Granbury TX, 2010 Honorable Mention and 2011 Merit Award., the 2008, 2010 Rio Brazos Art Exhibit, Granbury, TX, the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Stars of Texas, Juried Art Exhibit, Brownwood, TX, the 2009 and 2010 Breckenridge Juried Art Show Competition, the 2012 Best of the Biennial, FWCAC, Fort Worth, TX and she has also exhibited artworks at the Monticello Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Her landscape paintings are representative in style and often display a textured three-dimensional effect through the use of impasto aided by pallet knife, which together reveal her interpretation of nature and her passion for life.
