to 6 PM

Start date: Saturday, October 13, 2012
End Date: Saturday, January 26, 2013
The White Rock Lake Museum (located inside the Bath House Cultural Center) presents Lass Blumen Sprechen (Let Flowers Speak), an exhibition featuring photographs of nature by Hans J. Schnitzler.
Hans J. Schnitzler has had a deep interest in photography for many years and he considers the camera his best friend. He believes that photography allows him to capture life in extraordinary ways, and that nature offers the most impressive photographic subjects. The artist left his native Germany, and moved to the United States in the 1960s. His earlier career in international hotel purchase and management gave Mr. Schnitzler ample opportunities to travel and capture photographic impressions in Eastern and Western Europe, as well as in the United States.
Lass Blumen Sprechen presents a collection of color photographs of nature and flowers that the artist has produced along the years. The different flowers that he sees through the lens of his camera develop into an image that tells a story and makes a remarkable statement. Overall, Mr. Schnitzler wishes to depict the beauty of nature. In his position as research photographer for the Dallas Arboretum, the artist has been granted both the location and the inspiration to photograph floral images from the highly-visited botanical garden. Some of those images are included in this exhibition.
Hans J. Schintzler is an award-winning artist who has exhibited in multiple national and international exhibitions, including shows in Germany, Austria, Russia, and the United States. He also co-authored the book First-Exposure and has organized a number of gallery shows.
Enrique Fernández Cervantes, Curator of Exhibitions for the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, curated this exhibition.
