A collection of experiential exhibits based on living organisms is rare in the museum world. Learn about the building blocks of life — from DNA to cells — and their seemingly limitless potential. Discover the evidence that continues to shape our understanding of living things and life itself, and that has provided an unprecedented ability to manipulate life.
Watch live plant sperm swim (did you even know they had any?), as well as animal sperm in action. Learn about the similarity that exists between the DNA of a bacterium and a human or harvest your own cheek cell and compare it to the cells of a tomato or potato. Even watch grass grow — as genetically modified grass takes the pattern of a tiger skin in one art work and a human face in another. These are just some of the many ways you can explore the Traits of Life.
