Event is ongoing: Until Friday, June 29, 2007
A group of friends from Fort Worth exhibit together.
Brad Watson - I paint because I have to. I really have difficulty trying to analyze it further than that. But I think that simple answer will make sense to those who harbor a passion for something. Also, I paint because I was never very good at sports and I can't sing to save my life. I use the medium of oil paint because it is the medium used the the artists who move me most; Rembrandtt, Gainsborough and Sargent all used oil, therefore, I use oil.
Tim McKinney - I paint to be creative. It is also a very easy and relaxing escape from a busy life. I like the transparency of watercolor, and watercolor paint does not like to be controlled, so you never quite knkow how a painting will turn out.
Kay Granger - I paint in oil because watercolor is too unforgiving and acrylic is too flat. I paint to keep in touch with my creative self. Shelby Adams - Painting is my continuing education. Studying light, paint, structure and color is stimulating to my intellect and emotions. Most of us can relate to events that influence our spiritual being such as our family, friends, career and environment. I think each of us is lucky to have an activity that stirs our emotions, challenges our physical and mental capabilities, as well as, provides momentary relief from the stress of our daily lives. During theses activities we can experience a moment that touches our most personal soul. Painting is this activity for me.
