Texas Color
Start date: Friday, June 8, 2007
Event is ongoing: Until Saturday, June 30, 2007
Donna Walker studies the Texas landscape as inspiration for her oil paintings. She uses vivid colors thickly applied with palette knife and brush to capture the large Texas vistas as well as the quieter moments of farm animals roaming through pastures. She starts with a scene and then plays with colors and composition to enhance the drama of the painting. Donna lays out broad sweeps of flat, bright paint that create a balance between loose brushstrokes and controlled edges. Donna also looks to the city of Fort Worth for painting ideas: sightseers wandering downtown, couples eating at a local restaurant, ladies shopping… In public spaces she captures the private moment.
