Description

Preservation is the Art of the City™ functions as a non-profit art gallery to promote and support the success of local studio artists and historic preservation in Fort Worth, Texas. The 48 jury-selected artists paint in a broad range of styles and subject matters. (Please note: photography and sculpture are not exhibited at this time.) Many enter paintings in a special preservation themed category called “Stories of the City” which often depict iconic and vernacular Fort Worth buildings. “The Reception with the Artists” is the premier opportunity to purchase art before the art show opens to the public. Sponsored cash awards for outstanding artworks, named in honor of Fort Worth Circle Artists, are presented to selected artists at this event. The evening is sponsored by the Crystelle Waggoner Trust, Bank of America, Trustee. The 2007 Preservation is the Art of the City™ honorees are Dr. Robert and Joyce Pate Capper, patrons of the arts and passionate historians. This year’s featured artist is David Conn. Thanks to the generosity of the Estate of Cynthia Brants, Spring Celebration, a limited edition print, will be auctioned by silent bid during the Celebration with the Artists, September 6 and Gallery Night, September 8.
