Start date: Friday, April 4, 2008
Event is ongoing: Until Monday, April 21, 2008

THE EASL FUND provides limited financial assistance to North Texas Visual artists and arts professionals who are in dire temporary distress because of an unforeseen medical emergency or other catastrophic event. Since 1992, EASL has allocated over $250,000 in grants to more than 100 North Texas artists and arts professionals. Application is limited to those who are pursuing a fine art career as evidenced by a record of exhibitions and/or significant involvement in the North Texas fine arts community. Artists and arts professionals joined together to found EASL in 1992. EASL is operated by a volunteer committee, allowing for maximum funds to be distributed to individuals in need. In addition to awarding monetary grants, EASL works with a resource of professionals, from social workers to attorneys, who volunteer their time and expertise to help negotiate medical bills.

Though visible when it is raising money, EASL abides by a strict policy of confidentiality regarding disbursal of funds, thereby protecting artists' anonymity and dignity.
