Description

Joe Pat Davis had a near perfect childhood to loving parents in rural northeast texas. since leaving home at the age of eighteen to pursue a life of scholarship and twenty-something misadventure he has adopted “straight” photography as his chief means of self-expression. he is concerned with questioning, documenting, and celebrating the beauty of life around him. davis reports his use of photography to ultimately serve the purpose of allowing him to connect with what most interest him: his extraordinary family and friends, and trying to understand the visual culture of the place where he has spent the majority of his life. although davis’ formal training is in traditional photographic mediums he also draws and makes site-specific installations. davis offers his work as a means of facilitating conversations, which he very much enjoys, with his peers and all interested parties. he hopes that his photographs are seen as personal, yet familiar. davis currently lives and works in denton, texas.
