Description
Gobber's mixed-media constructions and works on paper slyly deconstruct "of-the-moment" words and phrases, manipulating both surfaces and meaning in an often biting and humorous manner. Political, social and vernacular "buzz words" are disassembled, slapped around and stitched back in a dry reinterpretation of the passive-aggressive nature of American consumer propaganda. Gobber's work is both a satirically harrowing and hysterical take on how we have ceased to be a nation of citizens, but rather an assembled mass of easily manipulated consumers.
