Description
From time to time, each of us has been called-upon to “get up and say a few words.” The request to do so may evoke both delight and shock as one is handed this “honor.” This workshop is geared to those who speak publicly on an occasional or regular basis, to those who are in line for or desire positions where public speaking of some type will be a part of their duties, and to those who just want to feel more confident when addressing a group. Using theatre performance techniques and exercises (breathing, body language, enunciation, and improvisation, monologue or scene work), including gentle but honest feedback from the instructor and workshop participants, this workshop will help prepare you for the on-the-spot request as well as preparing you in advance for your big moment. No experience is necessary. This workshop will culminate with each student having the opportunity to “present themselves” to a gathering of invited guests.
