To kick off our 55th Anniversary year, Valley House Gallery will begin its celebration in Fort Worth with a survey exhibition of 40 of the gallery’s contemporary artists at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. The show has been assembled to pay tribute to the role that Fort Worth friendships have played in the history of Valley House Gallery. Our founder, artist Donald Vogel, was befriended by Fort Worth artists when he arrived in Dallas from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1942. It was at a party at Flora and Dickson Reeder’s home that he met his future wife Margaret (Peggy) Mayer. If not for Fort Worth’s vibrant contemporary art scene, Valley House Gallery might never have been built, and its current owner, Kevin Vogel, might not have been born.
