Description
"The exhibit UP is fundamentally about hope. Hope is not wishful thinking. Hope is rather the ability to stand amid what is broken and chaotic and envision a positive future story.” – Roberta Harris "Fatcat", © Roberta Harris
Roberta Harris: UP will explore the role of culturally significant symbols and their meanings in art with a focus on the concept of “Hope” and its complements – joy, strategy, peace and imagination. Roberta Harris utilizes these thematic symbols to elicit conversation among viewers, as well as between the lone viewer and the art itself. Such discussions of hope can inspire actions that shape a better future for all.
Roberta Harris: UP is interested in sparking new thought and discussion on the theme and imagery of “hope”. Though often dismissed as overly sentimental and idealistic, there are few catalysts that can vault human achievements to such incredible heights, and few topics that are more timely and essential to modern society. “Hope” is a story that continues to interest artists as they seek ways in both traditional and new mediums of visual expression.
