Animalia / Honky Tonk
Start date: Saturday, March 21, 2009
Event is ongoing: Until Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Animalia is the name of Horenstein's latest book which features images of terrestrial and aquatic life forms from zoos and aquariums that he has made over the years. Honky Tonk shows the people, from common folks to stars, who form much of the country and western culture; this series was made in the 1970s. Both series of incisive imagery are wonderfully creative and humorous, with some of it bordering on the surreal, not just of the animals, but also of the people.
Henry Horenstein (born 1947) is a professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. He has authored more than 30 books, been in numerous shows and is included in a number of prominent museum photographic collections.
