Art review: Seventeen Hundred Seeds

Posted 1 year ago

We'd like a writer to review a temporary land art project in an empty 1.6-acre lot in south Dallas called Seventeen Hundred Seeds. The seeds are Aztec Gold sunflowers, all planted by hand. They're expected to grow 5-7 feet tall by mid-May.

Organizers say it's been a curiosity to passersby, who aren't used to seeing a tractor in the middle of the city.

We want a seasoned arts critic to view the art project on Saturday, May 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Interview the organizers to find out why they did it and who paid for it. What does it mean? Who does it promote?

This may also be a good comparison with the Dallas Arboretum/Winfrey Point debacle. We can discuss that parallel more after I choose a writer.

Length: No more than 600 words

Deadline: May 20 at 2 p.m.
