Why do I need a user account?

We ask you to register to use features that absolutely require our system to remember you -- things like The Daily You™, custom playlists, profile pages, and comments. You can view anything on the site without registering. But, the site is much, much cooler if you use the features that require registration.

What does it cost to register?

Registration is free.

Why do I have to register to comment?

One reason is that it is often useful to be able to see someone's body of comments on the site to better understand their overall perspective, and a user account is the only way to tie those comments together. However, the main reason is that we've found that this is the best way to prevent "spam" comments junking up the site and making it harder for you to find what you're looking for.

What does "Verified" mean?

It means that you have requested that we convert your account to verified status. We verify users by contacting them and asking them some basic questions to give us a comfort level that they are who they say they are.

Only verified users can post photos and videos via html in our comments. Also, verified users are sometimes taken more seriously on the comment boards.

I'm trying to register, but the confirmation email never arrives.

First, if your email client has a spam filter, check the spam folder to see if our email got misdirected. If that is not the case, your internet provider may be mistakenly blocking our email. Contact us and we'll get you registered and get with your provider to solve the problem over the longer term.

What is Pegasus News' coverage area?

The entire DFW area. We sometimes extend out a bit further to cover events that an area resident might reasonably drive to see.

Where does all this content come from?

A good bit of it comes from our small but plucky staff. A lot comes from local content partners who want a wider audience for their work. Some comes from regular folks like you and me who want to share local information with their friends and neighbors. Some is aggregated from publicly available sources, but we always try to put our own special stamp on it.

I found my words, photos, audio or video on your site and I didn't put it there or authorize it. What the hell?

We go to great lengths to make sure that we are respectful of content rights while making sure to bring the best local stories, photos, audio, and video by any reasonable means necessary. If you have made your content explicitly available for free download or distribution, we consider it fair game unless we hear otherwise. In any other case, if your content is on our site without your permission, it is either a mistake on our part, or someone else submitted your content, representing it as their own. If either is the case, please let us know immediately.

I have content on Pegasus News and I want it removed.

If that content is on our site without your permission, let us know and we'll take care of it immediately. If you originally gave permission for us to use the content and you've changed your mind after the fact, let us know and we'll consider the request -- but no promises.

I found my name and/or news about me on your site and I don't want it to be there.

Let us know and we'll consider your request, but it is unlikely we will remove it unless you're a minor or the information is verifiably incorrect. Failing that, you can always post a comment on the content to give other users your side of the story.

I found incorrect information on the site. How do I make a correction?

You can either post a comment on the relevant page, or email us directly.

I have a cool idea for an article or site feature.

Can I use RSS feeds to read the site?

Yes. We have RSS feeds for most content types, including stories, audio, video, places, and bands.

How do you pick which events go into the calendar?

We try to put every local public event we can into the calendar. We accept submissions, but we also go out and find a lot of information on our own.

How can I get an event on the calendar?

Submit it here.

How can I get a page for my band?

Submit a profile. We will only post profiles for bands that are DFW-based and regularly play shows around town. We will make the occasional exception for out-of-town bands that play here on a regular basis (once a month, at a bare minimum).

How can I correct my band or organization page?

Send us the information by email. We'll fix it ASAP.

I don't like a user comment posted about my restaurant/business/band etc.

We encourage you to post a comment transparently giving your side of the story along with your identity. You'll find that people respect that. We remove comments at our sole discretion and rarely do so just because a business has requested it.
