Synopsis: Ben Campbell is a shy, brilliant M.I.T. student who--needing to pay school tuition--finds the answers in the cards. He is recruited to join a group of the school's most gifted students that heads to Vegas every weekend armed with fake identities and the know-how to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. With unorthodox math professor and stats genius Micky Rosa leading the way, they've cracked the code. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signals, the team can beat the casinos big time. Seduced by the money, the Vegas lifestyle, and by his smart and sexy teammate, Jill Taylor, Ben begins to push the limits. Though counting cards isn't illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos' menacing enforcer: Cole Williams.

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info

Man was this one a steaming pile... Take every bad Hollywood stereotype and water it down and you've got 21.
Perversion of the source material? Check. Irrelevant but loud songs to cobble together a soundtrack? Check.
The best of the dialogue sounds like exposition-ese.
Characters are suitably half-dimensional. If you can't sketch out the inevitable "twists" after the first half hour, you might want to get a CAT scan.
Kevin Spacey, you owe me two hours of my life. I had free passes and I'm still angry.
What's scariest is that a not insubstantial percentage of the crowd applauded at the end, and presumably not just because it was over.
Thank God for Studio Movie Grill's liquor license. Otherwise, I might not have made it.
