Double Wide Whirlwind
Scott Porter just told me the Spitfire show is back on at the Double-Wide. I don't know if they are re-opened for good or not, but you can catch Spitfire Tumbleweeds, Phillip Roebuck & 100 Damn Guns this Saturday, April 15th at the Double-Wide.
UPDATE: Kody Jackson (yes, I must go to the Denton folk to get the latest in Dallas news) just told me that the rumor is; that some of the ex-employees of the Double-Wide bought (or took over) the joint. That, my dear, was perhaps the fastest club closing and re-opening in history. The new owners are former employees of the...um...former owner. So it's back to bidness as usual. They are looking for bands to perform Friday night, so chop-chop on the horn to them if you are interested.
In other Expo news, it seems that New Amsterdam Coffeehaus has come to some sort of agreement with building owners to take over the patio area in which Bar of Soap has been using for band performances. I'm just reporting hearsay at this writing, but apparantly this came as a total surprise to Bar of Soap owners who have been in the same spot for over 20-years.
