Zayra Alvarez was in the final eight going into tonight's "unplugged" edition of Rock Star: Supernova. One artist got to perform an original tune, and Zayra wisely went to the mat for the opportunity, singing mostly in her native Spanish.
She came across better than in any prior episode -- the only hitch was that her performance reinforced that she is a strong performer, but not what Supernova probably envisions for a head-bangin' tour next year. Still, given the way the band chastised the other contestants for not stepping up to take on the original, combined with abysmal performances from Storm Large and Patrice Pike, I'd imagine she's around for another week however the fan vote goes. (At the end of the show, she was in the bottom three.)
Rock Star promised English lyrics on their website, but I can't find them.
The coronation of Houston's Dilanna continued tonight, via her performance of "Cat's In The Cradle." Even though she botched the lyrics, the Supernova boys continue to be smitten. She'll have to be caught, um well, going to church or reading or drinking milk to be eliminated.

The song was "Lluvia de Mar" from her 2004 release Ruleta. Lyrics to "Lluvia de Mar" can be found here. And in English here.

I never would have known about Zayra Alverez if I didn't have the TV on, and happen to come home right when she was on. I had no idea who I was watching, but she was great! She's actually too good to be playing cover tunes, and with that Super Nova band. I have a really, really good feeling that she is going to be known as a household name in her own right very soon.
